I just got a call from a rental car insurance company (RCIC). One of our truck drivers backed into a guy who was in a rental car. Our insurance company paid for all repairs, no problem. Evidently, that wasn't enough.
The RCIC is also demanding that our insurance company pay an administrative fee of $300 for having to draw up documents on the claim. Naturally, our insurance company said NO so, the RCIC wants us to pay it out of pocket. Yeah right.
I told the lady that was ridiculous. She then threatened to ruin our drivers credit if we didn't pay it. I told her I wouldn't promise anything and to go ahead and send out that bogus invoice along with every single document that warrants the $300 fee.
I'm a bitch. As soon as I receive the crap she sends, I am going to turn around and bill them $1 over their bill for an administration fee for wasting my time dealing with this stupid matter.
EDIT: You should have seen the company made flyer this lady sent me that states that "car rental companies have the right to charge these fees due to it not being the nature of their business to deal with car accidents". And, that they charge it at the time of car accidents, etc. because they are not allowed to charge it to the consumer who simply rents their vehicles. Blah..blah...blah... Guess what? This ole bitty at the commercial construction company is not in the business of dealing with car accidents either and, her time and effort waisted on dealing with this matter warrants a $301.00 fee. I already sent an invoice to them. Not a peep so far. Tomorrow, if I have time, I'm going to fax it again with our memo about what the business nature is of the company I work for.
